Anthony Welle was born Dec. 2, 1962, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., the youngest of six children and grew up in Bismarck, ND. After high school, he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Moorhead State University.
In 1990, he entered St. John's Seminary in Collegeville, MN. During this time, he studied Scripture, history and archaeology in Egypt and Israel. He left the seminary in 1993 in serch of the possibility of starting a family.
He worked in Fargo, ND until 1995 when he moved to Florida. He obtained his real estate license and old time shares. then became a real estate appraiser in Orlando. He said that he continued to have the sense that God wanted him to do something else with his life. "During that time, I never felt I was doing what I was supposed to be doing," he said. One day while driving to a property, he said he "got the strong sense that I should be telling people the value of their souls, rather than how valuable their houses were." After much discernment and with everything he owned in his car, he entered mid-semester at St. Vincent de Paul' Seminary. "It felt like a piece of the puzzle fit together," Deacon Welle said. · He will celebrated his first Mass at St. Teresa in Titusville where he served his pastoral year. His second Mass was at his home parish, Blessed Sacrament in Clermont.
In 2007, Holy Name of Jesus was his first pastoral assignment as Associate Pastor. He became Parochial Administrator in 2010.
